Clean and Simple Cards: Foil with Every Stamp in your Stash

Hello crafty friends! I have a confession to make….I love shiny things! And I fell in love with beautiful, shiny foil! Being new to card making, and definately new to foiling, I had a steep learning curve. But, I learned some valuable lessons along the way that I’d like to share with you. The card I created also happens to be my submission to the Altenew Education Certification Program, AECP, for the course Clean and Simple Boutique Cards.

I’ve made a YouTube video you can view at https://youtu.be/2-rJzBw5Ef8. This video covers the difference between hot foil and toner foil. And it demonstrates how to foil using embossing powder and liquid toner. Please consider liking and subscribing to my channel. It means alot that people enjoy my videos.

To create this card I used Altenew Craft Your Life: Lush Garden for the flower and leaf images.

  • First, I used liquid toner from the Heidi Swapp Minc Stamping Kit and covered the flower image with the toner. I then stamped the toner covered flower onto Neenah 80# white paper. I covered the flower with Deco Foil Transfer Sheets in gold and ran it through the Heidi Swapp Minc machine on setting three. I then removed the excess foil to reveal the beautiful foiled flower.

  • Next, I covered the flower with Altenew masking paper. I then stamped the leaves with the liquid toner. I removed the mask and covered the leaves with the same gold foil and ran it through the Heidi Swapp Minc machine on setting three. I removed the excess foil to reveal the foiled leaves.

  • I stamped the inside of the flower using Altenew Crisp Dye Ink Rouge. And the inside of the leaves with Altenew Crisp Dye Ink Mountain Mist.

  • I used the stitched rectangle die from Gina K Master Layouts 2 to cut down the paper.

  • I heat embossed the sentiment “Let your light shine through” from the Altenew Craft Your Life: Magnolia & Blooms using Gina K Rose Gold embossing powder.

  • I used foam dimensional tape to adhere the card front to a top folding 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 card base using Neenah #110 cardstock.

I really appreciate you stopping by my blog and I look forward to hearing your comments. Please consider subscribing so you don’t miss out on future cards. And as always…find your joy!
